Head Start to Stardom: Ms. Lisa Banner, our 2007 Head Start to Stardom winner, was on hand to present awards to the 2008 Head Start to Stardom winners. Ms. Crystal Barnes was our first place winner. Ms. Angel Moore came in second and Ms. Kizzy Boyette earned third place honors. The event raised $236 for the Dollar per Child campaign. This is more than double the amount raised at the 2007 event!
Let's keep the momentum going and expand this event for 2009. We look to our fifty-five NC Head Start programs to encourage parents to compete at the program level. We look to our four Clusters to organize a Cluster competition prior to the March conference. We hope to have one finalist from each Cluster ready to compete for the 2009 Head Start to Stardom title. During the finalist competition, votes will cost $1 each. Proceeds go to the Dollar per Child campaign. We look to our fifty-five NC Head Start programs to do the same at the local level, using their program competition as a fund raiser for Dollar per Child. We look to our four Clusters to do the same at the Cluster level, using the Cluster competition as a fund raiser for Dollar per Child. As we face uphill appropriations battles in Washington, we must pull together to fight for what we know is right for Head Start children, families and programs. That is where Dollar per Child funds play a vital role. Those funds are used to advocate at the State and Federal levels on behalf of all Head Start children, families and programs. Click HERE for the English flyer and HERE for the Spanish, flyer regarding the Head Start to Stardom event. Additional questions can be directed to Mr. Marcallus Sunday, NCHSA 2nd Vice President. He can be reached at msunday@familyserv.org or 336-727-0617. Thank you in advance for your support and enthusiasm. And may the best parent vocalist win!
